Know the Fight. Protect the Freedom.
This document preserves the hard-won history of homeschooling in Montana and honors the decades of leadership of Steve White, the widely respected godfather of homeschooling in Montana.
Since homeschooling was legalized in 1983, these freedoms have faced repeated challenges. As homeschooling continues to grow, families need to understand the battles that came before, recognize the threats that remain, and stay informed and ready to protect their right to educate their children at home.
Our hope is that this resource will preserve that history, equip families for the future, and serve as an ongoing reference guide through Homeschool Montana.

Since 1983...
...every bill opposing homeschooling has been defeated in committee, and has never reached the governor’s desk.
This would not have been possible if parents had not stood up for their God-given rights. We must continue to stand firm!
